Silver
- Anonymous chip card
- Standard cabin on metro and tram
- Sold at metro stations and partner outlets
Card issuance, validation and travel pricing remain with the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai. We only handle top-up requests for cards already activated.
Silver is what most Dubai commuters carry. It is anonymous, plastic and rechargeable; you can buy it at any metro station, RTA bus station or partner convenience outlet. Because it is anonymous it is not tied to a photo or identity document, which means you can hand it to a family member without paperwork. The Silver card opens the standard cabin on Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram and pays the standard fare on RTA buses, the water bus and most RTA parking meters. We top up active Silver cards in any amount within the holder's choice and the limits set by RTA.
Gold uses the same chip as Silver and behaves the same way for buses, the water bus and parking. The difference is that Gold unlocks the Gold Class cabin at the front of the metro train and at the rear of the tram — leather seats, more legroom, and a separate entrance on the platform. The trade-off is the fare: a Gold-cabin journey costs double the standard fare. Gold makes sense for the daily commuter on a long line; it is rarely worth it for short hops. We top up active Gold cards through the same rails as Silver.
Blue is the personalised concession product, issued to senior Emiratis, students and persons of determination. Each Blue card carries a printed photo and is bound to identity documents on file with RTA. Holders pay a discounted fare across the network. We top up active Blue cards, but RTA will reject any load on a suspended or expired Blue card; if your card is no longer in good standing, please renew it with RTA before sending a top-up request through us.
To be clear about scope:
Look at the colour and the photo: a silver-grey card with no photo is Silver; a yellow-orange card without a photo is Gold; a blue card with your portrait printed on the front is Blue. If you still are not sure, leave the family field as “I'm not sure” on the top-up form — we identify the family from the serial number when the request lands.
